6.0.2 and the Fiery Warhorse! AND ALAR! :D

The dawn of 6.0.2 has been an interesting one! The pre patch questline in Blasted Lands was fun and I'm fond of the cute little Iron Starlette pet!

However something that I'm still shaking and bursting with smiles about...the Fiery Warhorse dropped for me! I usually go to Karazan once a week, been going ever since Raiding with Leashes II came out. Since I was there, it was customary to kill  Midnight on my way to the pet bosses. Well today, I out of nowhere decided to a) turn my in game music on (which I've never had on since I started playing this game and b) I  /yell'd at Midnight...and by god it worked!

I'll try to give a more detailed update about 6.0.2 when I'm not so pressed for time! Until next time!
-Cyphale

EDIT: As I was going my runs today I also got Ashes of Alar! I'm overjoyed! I'll update once the shock has calmed down!

Eve of Pre Patch 6.0.2

Greetings!

Tomorrow is the day! The day we bid farewell to Garrosh and the Kor'kron and hello to Vol'jin!

I've been a bit anxious about this day for quite sometime now, I think I'm just done with the whole theme of Pandaria and SoO.

I managed to finish up the legendary cloak questline for my DK, and ties up a few other loose ends. To pass the time these last 2.5 weeks I've been blitz leveling some pets, since I know that when WoD drops I'll be preoccupied with leveling. As for what I'm going to main in WoD, it will most likely be my DK, but I plan to level as much as I can stand to get through of Old Outlands :p

  • Speaking of Outlands, that is a thing that I will miss; the green Dark Portal. Gone will be the days of flying through that verdant portal beyond to the Stair of Destiny,
  • We shall also bid farewell to justice and valor points and heirloom vendors.
  • We will be parting for a little over a month with the BMAH and the Brawlers Guild too.
  • Guild levels will be now more as well.
  • Also the Horde, Alliance and Neutral auction houses will be merged...I'm not sure how I feel about that one.
  • And who could forget Garry! Good ol Garry will be leaving us to do some time travelling nonsense.

I'd like to keep my hopes up, so we will see just how quickly the realms will be up tomorrow. From what the Battle.net launcher tells me, the maintenance should be about 10 hours.

I think I've rambled on enough here...I'll be attaching some screencaps of some of my memorable Pandaria times.

See you in 6.0.2!

10 Years, 10 Questions!

Greetings!

In fear that I might forget/be too busy to do this at the actual time, I found this little questionnaire whilst just browsing online.

WoW will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this coming November! If you haven't already seen them, the events planned for the anniversary look amazing! So without further adieu;

1. Why did you start playing Warcraft?
I started playing September 14th 2008. My boyfriend and I lived an hour away from each other, so he suggested that we play as a way to spend time together rather than just texting.

2. What was the first ever character you rolled?
(male) Orc Warrior - Ihatekittys

(No I actually don't hate kittys, or cats for that matter :P When I started the game my boyfriend had a level 70 Tauren Warrior named Ihatebabies (Caboose reference) so I spur-of-the-moment decided that it would be funny to see a manly orc running around hating kittens.)

I'm also so stoked that they added the Crazy Cat Man title. :P

3. Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
When I agreed to try the game, all of my friends were playing Horde. So I thought it would be sort of silly if they all were Horde and I went to the opposing faction. The second part of it is that the Alliance seems to pretty and proper for me personally...Blood and thunder! For the Horde!

4. What has been your most memorable moment in Warcraft and why?
Omg you can't ask me this! There are way too many! One that jumps out at me was my first time in VOA and the Grand Black War Mammoth dropped. I had never seen or heard of that mount until then, but a quick wowhead lookup and I wanted it (just like everyone else did :P) So I watched everyone else /roll. The highest roll at this point was my IRL friend with a 97. He started bragging about it in chat saying how the master looter "might as well give the mount to him since no one was going to beat his roll." So I held my breath and typed in my /roll. Lo and behold I one upped him with a 98! I was ecstatic! Every time since then it has been my go-to mount on my warlock :P

(Heads up for not-so-amazing video skillz :P)

5. What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
I have a few favourites in this game. I'd have to say achievements/pet collecting is what I love doing. One of the first things I bought on the AH when I was a noob back in the day were non-combat pets. From that it grew into my pet collection of today. Even though its just a bunch of code and pixels, it gives you a sense of pride being able to show off that achievement/title/pet/mount etc. that no one has seen or isn't easy to obtain.

6. Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
I have a few, I used to love going to the Ironforge Airfield, Shatterspear Village and Quel'thalas, I made videos about my trips to those places.

It was like they were these little places that some people knew about but hardly anyone went (on my server anyway.) I was so sad when they turned the Airfield and Shatterspear into a legit questing zones. I still fly to them today, but the mystique of them is gone :( And as for Quel'thalas, when Cata hit they extended the invisible wall so you couldn't even get to the little place with the tower :(

7. How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
I currently don't have game time  to check... but I believe last time I checked my main's /played was about 150 days. I did a total of days played  a while ago across every character I have and I think that it was around 500 days. For the first 2 years I played regularly, I took a break for a year and since then I play in spurts. I'm planning to come back soon to farm up some stuff before WoD releases.

8. Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
The first time I do the quest I do. If I'm repeating the quest on a different character I usually just skim.

9. Are there any regrets from your time in game?
Just one, I wish that I had been a bit more chatty in my guild/with friends when I had the chance. I was sort of a mouse in game. I probably came off as a jerk who didn't want to talk but that wasn't the case at all. I had some wonderful times with everyone and I wish that I contributed more, I really do.

10. What effect has Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?
A lot of the time when I see a nice scenery I'll think to myself "hey that looks like blah blah in WoW." WoW has also helped me understand any sort of game that uses 'talent trees.' That used to be a nightmare for me.

And then there's social media. I love to write and edit videos and I guess WoW gave me a purpose to do so. On December 12th 2009 I started this blog. I look back and think that it was so long ago. Looking at all my past posts and all my past YouTube videos, even though the topics are always centered around WoW they help my chronicle bits of my life. I can think that "hey when I went to Shatterspear Village, in the same month I did x and y IRL" sort of thing.

This game also gave me a sense of belonging outside of actually playing the game. WoW is a huge part of the mmorpg industry so there are tons of people who know it, played it and either love it or hate it. It's always a nice feeling to be able to say that you've partaken in a big piece of culture. No matter what the real world brings (or doesn't bring) to you, WoW makes it so easy to make friends and forge relationships without worrying about gender, race, disabilities etc. I know that every online community has its toxic people, but for every toxic person there are so many other good people online just waiting to make a friend.

Well there you have it, this was such a good set of questions! I'm happy to have contributed my snippet of information :)

RIP Robin Williams

This is just a quick post. After hearing the news about Mr. William's death I was deeply saddened, like so many others. I had heard sometime ago that he was an avid gamer, one of those games being World of Warcraft. While I haven't been playing for a little while, I started up my starter account and headed to the Shrine of the Fallen Warrior to pay my respects.

I would like to say thank you to Robin Williams for all of the laughs and moments of joy that he has brought to so many people, he will most certainly not be forgotten.

I would also like to urge you, if you are feeling depressed... please, please, please talk to someone about it. There is always hope in the darkest of times. Life is not like WoW, there is no resurrect button. Your life is valuable and suicide should never be the answer.

100 Post!

Holy crap it's here! After 5 years of this blog I finally hit my 100th post...You think I might have gotten there sooner :P

Ah well on with it,

So first order of business is something that I'm thrilled about...I finally got my Raven Lord mount! :D Been after that for 2 years and it finally dropped! Now if Alar would be so kind as to grace me with it's astounding presence then life would be complete :p

Aside from mounts, my pet collection has grown yet again.. I'm up to 520 pets. I'm still hoping to increase that whenever the prices are right for pets :P

My pets can be found here

Other than that news nothing new has really been up...been doing my usual weekly raid runs, not much in the mood to be leveling anything and DPS raid finder queue for my lock is terrible xD

I'm sorry that my 100th post was a bit underwhelming...WoW has just been kinda going slow for me atm, not much to do till new expansion drops (which I'm looking forward to)

Thank you all for being with me through 100 posts! <3 br=""> -Cyphale

01/15/2014

It has been a long time! I'll just get right into it. My school semesters have gotten a bit lighter since switching majors so I would like to think that I could post more here...but we'll see how that goes.

The whole Ravencrest Alliance thing didn't last long, I got my shaman to 79...and as much as I loved the fem. draenei animations and model...I'm a horde player at heart

I took a little break for a bit but then started my account back up this past September and have been happily playing since.

I've done all of raid finder SoO and got my dk full 528 geared, so I'm working on getting my priest and warlock there.

Also very recently some of the old members from my guild have come back to wow, and oh man, the guild feels even more like home now :)

While on the topic of my death knight, I have gotten several compliments on my transmog. So I'll list the xmog pieces I used. I wasn't planning on making this set originally, but while going through AQ I had the pants drop (lololol) and wanted to try and make a set around them

(And Im contrasting what it looks like on a male orc... just isn't the same on them :P)

The pieces are as follows:

Helmet: Not displayed
Shoulders: Warlord's Iron-Epaulets
Back: Not displayed
Chest: Glorious Breastplate
Wrist: Not displayed
Hands: Flameguard Gauntlets
Waist: Acherus Knight's Girdle (Note: My belt is transmogg'd but the Acherus Knight's Girdle is an invisible belt)
Pants: Legplates of Blazing Light
Boots: Magma Tempered Boots

I think that this transmog looks more suited for a paladin, I was drawn to it because (aside from loving my slutmogs) the pants for it are somewhat unique. As I see lots of mogs like this with more bikini bottom pants and I like how this is just a bit different.

On a sidenote from wow, I finally got into the Hearthstone beta yesterday :D (happy early b-day present for me :P) I had heard good things about it, and was recommended to try it. Although I'm not the best at it, I have been having a lot of fun with it :D

So there it is...Happy belated 2014 everyone

Ravencrest!

Greetings! I am here once again! As you might have read that I made another little return back in February... it was nice to come back. I did a lot of pet battles and pet farming but it was a little boring playing alone...so after my month was up I didn't come back for April...but I am back now :D Some old aquaintences and myself have rerolled on Ravencrest and are giving this Alliance thing a try :P I'm leveling a class that I have never gotten to max level before (Shaman) and so far it's not so bad! I'm not sure how long this will go on for...so I'm just going to enjoy it as long as it lasts :p

Another Little Return

So this post won't be saying too much, bur as the title suggests I have bought another month of WoW time just to have some fun with. Basically when MoP first came out, my main goal was getting to level 90...and after I did that I was kinda burnt out on the game so I put it down for a few months. Now I am back just doing little things, casually leveling some alliance toons, getting into pet collecting and whatnot. If I find anything worth posting about I will try to get it up on here and/or get some videos uploaded.

May your blades never dull...or rust! :P

WoW Hiatus...Again

Sorry that I haven't updated this in awhile, but it was true that I came back to WoW after not playing for about a year. It was nice to be back, grind and farm for more pets, mounts, items etc. that I didn't have. And I also tried out Pandaria and I loved it. The landscapes were beautiful, with my favourite (yes, there is a U in favourite for me, I'm Canadian :P) being The Jade Forest. I got my death knight and my preist to 90, geared up in some dungeons and then hopped into raid finder. I tried a little pvp (I don't think that I gave it too much of a fair go...but friends were more focused on raiding. :P) I admit I did have some good times. Got my cloud serpent mount, enjoyed the pet battles, farmed some phoenix hatchlings and sold those for 2k a piece ...but then it just stopped being fun. I think mostly because I picked up being guild master for Vicious Tactics after our old gm and most of the guild members left. Tried recruiting and whatnot but no luck on a low pop server, and we could have server transferred, but in all honestly I liked the low pop server feel for some things. Well that was until bliz made the cross realm zones a reality >.< Trying to find rare spawns or going afk in the middle of nowhere was gone.

Anyways I guess the point of this is...if it hasn't already been assumed because of my lack of posts, I am on yet another WoW hiatus. This is not to say that I'll never come back...because there is always a possibility. I plan on buying the next exp. and atleast getting to max level just to keep up with it. I'll still be posting on my youtube channel, and time permitting I want to try to blog on The Daily Phale more. If plans do actually go according to plan this time, I will be sure to post it here.

Resigned

Well if you haven't noticed my blog here has gotten a most needed face lift!

So moving right along... After 30ish Magisters Terrace runs, I finally got my Swift White Hawkstrider! The drop rate is supposedly 4%, which isn't terrible, I read about it taking people way longer...so I consider myself lucky :p

However as happy as I am about the hawkstrider, there is still farming to be done! I am after now Reins of the Blue Proto Drake from Utgarde Pinnacle, Reins of the Green Proto Drake from the Oracles egg, and Rivendare's Death Charger from Stratholme.

As a death knight, the Skadi run for the blue drake is rather easy, I haven't found that I drop below 90% as blood. And as for the Stratholme run, well I don't have to worry about what spec I go into there as :p

As far as I know, the Blue Drake drop rate is 1.6%, Green is 5% from the egg, and the Death Charger is 0.8%. So its really up to the RNG (random number generator) when I get these mounts.

In addition to this farming, I'm also working on getting my Tol Barad and Argent Tournament mounts aswell. I'm not quite sure why I didn't do the Argent Tournament stuff when it came out...but it's never too late :D Doing faction dailies isn't really the funnest thing, but it can be rewarding. I already have my Flameward Hippogryph from the Mount Hyjal dailies, I'm 1 daily away from getting the non combat pet Pebble from Thereazane dailies...so its just all a matter of pushing yourself to do them everyday >.<

Well that's where things are at with me! Remember the Sunwell!

Lostmaster?

Yeah the banner still hasn't changed >.< I'm looking into remembering to fix that!

Anyways, it looks like it about time to update!

Remember (or not) how I was grinding rep with the Skyguard? Well I got my Nether Ray, I also got my Talbuks, and my 100 pets achieve. It really has been a busy month of dailies, grinding rep, pvp, dungeons and leveling lol. I'm not exactly sure where I will focus most of my attention next. The Loremaster achievement I have glanced at once or twice, it would be so badass to have since literally no one on my server has it...but then again its like "ok, have to do around 3000 quests...how do I approach this?" Its almost like the achievement for completing 3000 quests, but they're different. 3000 quests alone awards you with the title the Seeker, and it also doesn't give you a tabard like the Loremaster does. Here is a quick little breakdown from WoWWiki:

" The Horde requires a grand total of 3,260 quests to obtain this achievement, separated by continent:

  • 550 in Eastern Kingdoms (quests that the Quest Log lists under names of zones (including instances) of Eastern Kingdoms)

  • 685 in Kalimdor (quests listed under names of zones (including instances) of Kalimdor)

  • 595 in Outland
    • 90 in Hellfire Peninsula
    • 68 in Terokkar Forest
    • 86 in Blade's Edge Mountains
    • 54 in Zangarmarsh
    • 87 in Nagrand
    • 90 in Shadowmoon Valley
    • 120 in Netherstorm

  • 875 in Northrend
    • 150 in Borean Tundra
    • 100 in Zul'Drak
    • 105 in Howling Fjord
    • 100 in Storm Peaks
    • 130 in Dragonblight
    • 75 in Grizzly Hills
    • 75 in Sholazar Basin
    • 140 in Icecrown

  • 555 in Cataclysm
    • 130 in Vashj'ir
    • 115 in Mount Hyjal
    • 110 in Deepholm
    • 105 in Uldum
    • 95 in Twilight Highlands"
(information taken from http://www.wowwiki.com/The_Loremaster)

I mean, I have gone after more bizarre stuff in the past, hell, I have 105 non combat pets :p But I'm kinda at a disadvantage and advantage for this achieve.

On one hand, I'm a death knight, and I have done next to no old world quests, cause I didn't need to level there. On the other hand, I'm a death knight :p and that could work in my favor because for all of old world I would get to start at the beginner quest hubs so its easy to know where I need to begin.

Anyways that has been floating around my brain...I haven't forgotten about my movies and whatnot, I have some stuff fraps'd but I'm not sure if it will ever get made into a youtube video :p Also parodies aren't out of the question, now that I have a bit better equipment for recording. I just find that you can't force a good parody out. The best ones I've done just spawned from me listening to a song and the chorus or a parody line just coming out. So as I can't really give an eta on that, I will say that its highly possible that inspiration may come. I am also open to suggestion, within reason...I don't think it would go over well to make a parody of a screamo song cause well...I can't exactly scream like that :p

Tis all for now, glory to the sin'dorei and all that.

Netherwing Drake and MoP Stuff!

Well here I find myself on a lovely Saturday afternoon, and as much as I'd love to be rep farming I decided to take a little break to post here.

1st order of business...This banner will change, its due time :|

Secondly, I'm quite enjoying my revisit to WoW. I tried out the raid finder and did the Fall of Deathwing, twas pretty good. Also did heroic ZG...and I'm not sure how to feel about it, not really a fan of some of the old content being remade, guess I'm just not a big fan of change :p

On another note, I finally...after a good ol' rep grinding got my Netherwing Drake. You're given the choice to get 1 drake after you hit exalted with the Netherwing, and I chose the Veridian Netherwing Drake.

So since the farm for this mount is over, I've started questing for the Skyguard for a Nether Ray, the rep grind never truly ends lol.

Aside from that, I got my 25 tabards achieve as well, the Tabard of the Archiver is rather nifty. But its not as nifty as the last thing I'm going to mention!

I've been looking a little bit into MoP (Mists of Pandaria) and from what I've seen with people playing the beta, I love the warlock changes so far. At times I (personally) couldn't help but feel that they were one of the classes that blizzard sometimes overlooked. But in MoP they're getting a good refresh. From new spells, to revamped animation, new pets, revamped talents etc. So I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, but I will only be able to give a verdict when and if I play a lock in MoP and get to lvl 90.

Another thing that I'm happy about is the non combat pet battle system! :D I knew that there was a reason that I aimlessly collected them lol. But seriously, I like the fact that its something to do while you're waiting in que for a dungeon or something. I also like the fact that blizz wants to make it so that your pet collection isn't just on one character anymore. As much as I spoiled my DK with all the pets, I could finally be able to bust out any pet on any character and have 'em by my side in combat! :p

Scroll of Resurrection

My oh my its been a long time! I am pleased to announce that after almost a years break that I have returned to WoW! Its never felt so good to log on and collect more mindless achievements and pets :D

And of course playing alone is no fun...so I scrolled up some of my minions and now we're back to doing the same ol' stuff we were doing before we stopped playing :p

There are so many things that I want to try doing...I want a pvp set on my lock and a better pve set, I want to get my dk pvp geared, I want a resto pvp set on my druid and a pve resto set...Gah just so many things. And I can't forget about my pet collection, going for the 100 pets, I only need 5 more :D

So I'm not entirely sure if/when I would be doing any videos ...but it is a possibility, seeing as I'm done school for the summer I will no doubt have more free time. This semester had me packed for work :|

But I certainly do want to get back into posting and video making. The exploration got nerfed in cata imo, (flying everywhere doesn't make it nearly as rewarding) but if I find anything/do anything of remote interest I shall post it here. Also, (provided the time, and inspiration are right) more parodies could be a possibility.

This here was just a quick little post to say that I've been ressed :D

Throwing the WoW Towel In

The title says it all here. This is not to say that I will never come back, but Cataclysm wasn't what I was hoping for, and this next exp. doesn't look all to appealing either. So for now it is safe to say that I won't be in game now.

Things could change though, I could come back...and if I do I will be sure to write about it here!

Thank you for the funs times I had WoW! I shall miss thee!

For possibly the last time,

Update

Alas it has been a long time since I have been here indeed. After taking a tiny break from WoW, I have gotten back into it slowly by trying some new exploits. I have videos of a few of them and I will link them below this :P I have been occupying my time with League of Legends so far, I did try RIFT but it felt too much like WoW for my tastes.

I should be making more videos and they will be posted here, my second blog has taken off so I'm busy with that one as well...but I have not forgot about this one :D

(If the quality/aspect ratio are a little off I apologize, I;m still trying to find the best settings for YouTube videos on my new computer)

Until next time!

It's Been A Month D:

Oh my! It's been a month! D: Luckily I do not have much to report...I've just been getting my monies worth out of Cata. I have new videos out...but there's a few so I'll just shamelessly post my YouTube channel link instead of each video :P

http://www.youtube.com/user/MissPenguin14?feature=mhum

So for the most part I have been occupying my time with WoW, school work and another MMO that I signed up to try the beta. It's called RIFT, and its alright. From what I've played out of it I still say that I prefer WoW. I may buy it and give the retail version a try when it comes out. The rumored release date is March of this year. So that gives me a little more time to think about it. If I were to get it I would still play WoW, I haven't gotten my fill out of it yet :P

Now I have some homework that I should be getting to :P

Post Cataclysm

It has been a while! Almost a full year since I have started this blog :D

Anyways, Cataclysm has so far served me well. I chose to level up my nerfed-as-shit warlock first. I went demo, it was easy enough. I must say that I fully enjoyed each new area. I couldn't decide if I should quest in Hyjal or Vashj'ir, so I did both. I loved Hyjal for the lore and the backstory but my god Vashj'ir was amazing graphics wise.

Deepholm was interesting as well, kind of reminded me of Icecrown.

Uldum...cat people. Is all I can say :P

And Twilight Highlands, I didn't get to finish the area, but from what I did I loved the story.

I haven't gotten much video footage, my computer isn't liking the upped graphics of Cata so much. But I still insists on keeping my particle density maxed :P But I have got a new parody out!

It's been out for a little while now, but I think that it is one of my favourites that I have done. The strangest things inspire me when I make a parody. And sometimes my friends inspire me.

Mana, Mana, Mana was done for my b/f and fellow raider Amorianth <3

Get the Raid Started for for my l33t pally healing friend ;)

And Orc n' Troll is for my race confused friend :P jk jk

I haven't gotten bitten by the inspiration bug recently...but I'm sure that it won't be that long until I release another Cyphale original :P

But until then,

Cataclysm Tomorrow!

Well this is it! Tomorrow marks the start of another chapter if World of Warcraft history. We have been talking about it and wondering about it for a little over a year now, and now the day has finally come. I'm both excited and a little bit sad, but that's because I'm a sucker for nostalgia :P

Wrath of the Lich King was the first expansion that I become more seriously involved in. But since I have downloaded WoW alpha, I wish more and more that I actually played during vanilla WoW but I digress...

The shattering brought upon many changes to the world that I knew and loved. I miss the Barrens, because everyone always complained about it, I miss how it is no more the peaceful place where the kodo's play and Chuck Norris jokes can be heard.

I'll miss the Ironforge Airfield, I've went there many times and it was one of the more simple exploits but I loved the mystery of flying to Ironforge on my Alliance death knight and seeing it wondering what exactly was there; and more importantly...how can I get there? They made this place into a low level questing area. The same day as The Shattering I went on my Alliance death knight to go see it. I exploited to get there, even though there was probably an actual way to get there. Blizzard fixed it up, but it doesn't look like its normal, glitchy self anymore.

Another place that I will miss will be the Isle of Quel'Thalas. To get there before 4.0.1 all you had to do was swim, and if you played a class with some sort of water walking then that made your job much faster. But now, there are invisible walls to conquer. And I have no idea why, Blizzard was fine with this since it has been there since The Burning Crusade has been out. Quel'Thalas had to be my favourite place that I have visited. It is also so mysterious, just left to its own business. It is mentioned in lore as the home of the High Elves before it was destroyed by the Lich King (I think that's how it goes). I wasn't expecting them to just block it off, maybe it will be until I install the actual expansion, but maybe not.

But until tomorrow, I will just enjoy the world...while it is still worgen and goblin free :P
